All 4 lines from the cylinders are connected to a manifold block on the transom plate on the 2100 and none of the lines utilize grommets to prevent water from entering the boat. Guessing this was a design change on the later models.
So you have 4 individual lines, with a grommet on each, passing through the transom plate? |

This is an XDP Composite drive, it has only one hydraulic cylinder with 2 lines going through the transom plate. I spoke with a Volvo mechanic this morning who said that replacing those lines is a struggle. The rubber plug on the line is usually seized in from salt water so you just have to use brutt force. I just picked up a scalpel and might try cutting off the outer lip to let the plug pull into the engine compartment. He also suggested to grease up the new plug to assist in installation as it is a very tight fit.
I will keep you posted on what happens.

Gotcha! I apparently overlooked that you had XDP next to the dancing banana!

Mission Complete! I used a small exacto-blade to cut the rubber flange of the plug that is located just above the drive with the stern down. Tight area but still workable. I then proceed to pull and pull and pull the hydraulic hose from in the engine compartment until I finally heard a 'pop' and the rubber plug that is formed into the line came out. Prior to installation I covered the new plug portion with petroleum grease, lined it up with the hole and pulled in in until the plug was seated in the hole. Connected up the hydraulic flared ends and I was off to the races.
