Default Shurflo Macerator Repair

Here are some pix from a macerator rebuild I finally got around to doing. This particular macerator pump needed a new impeller, as it was not pumping water. During removal from the boat, the hose fitting on the impeller housing broke off while attempting to remove the hose. This now requires a complete pump head kit (#94-570-00), as opposed to just the impeller kit (#94-571-00). By simply lubricating the hose fitting with a small amount of grease when re-installing the pump will prevent the hose from sticking, and hopefully another breakage when the impeller needs to be changed again.

1. Remove the three screws from the cutter housing and remove the housing.

2. Loosen the rear shaft cover screws and slide the cover to allow access to the slotted shaft. Place a slotted screwdriver into the shaft and use a socket or wrench to loosen and remove the nut holding the cutter blades to the shaft. Remove the blades.

3. Remove the top plate, gasket, and impeller housing.

4. Install new impeller housing, bottom plate, and impeller. Do not worry about which way the blades are bent at this time, once the motor is spun, they will be facing the proper direction.

5. Install new gasket and top plate. Re-install original blades and nut, again holding the shaft with the screwdriver. Install new seal to the cutter housing, and attach with the three screws.

6. Spin the shaft with the slotted screwdriver to test that everything spins. Install new gasket and tighten the rear cover.

7. Spend the money you saved over buying a new macerator pump on new fishing equipment. <'((((><
