Mike,

Do you just wait until you get home to flush the engine and rinse off the boat and trailer ?? or, is there somewhere nearby that you can get fresh water ??

You would think for $7 a launch that they could install a water outlet.

Yes, I flush the engine and wash the boat when I get back to Ukiah, (at a friends house because he has a very large parking space for my boat). I just called and verified with the harbormaster (964-4719) that there is no place near the boat ramp to wash the boat or flush the engine. The car wash in Ft Bragg is the closest place to wash a boat.

You don't get much for $7. The ramp and parking lots are small and the main parking lot has a dirty parking surface, and fills up very early in the morning when the salmon bite is hot, especially on the weekends. As you know, the hard part is the long haul over the hills on Hwys 20 or 128. As they say, there is no easy way to Ft Bragg.

On the plus side, salmon season starts early and is often very good by June. They usually bite just offshore and I am told that it is a much shorter run for tuna out of Ft Bragg than out of Bodega Bay.

But I do plan on fishing out of Bodega Bay this year. For me it should not be that much more of a haul, and it has a much nicer boat ramp.

Mike,

Thanks, for the information. Guess, I'll keep using Bodega as my primary port.

From 6 years ago, it had been very rough in the morning. Afternoon calmed down.
